A new spa and leisure hotel situated in an exquisite historic stone house dating to the end of the 19th century. If walls could speak, they would surely relate stories about a glorious past and famous leaders of the city’s community.
The Sofia Sea of Galilee Hotel is located in the heart of Tiberias, a few minutes’ walk from the city center and the Sea of Galilee (locally named the Kinneret).

לצד המבנה ההיסטורי, הוקם בניין חדש הכולל 120 חדרים יוקרתיים עם חיפויי עץ מהודרים, ביניהם חדרים וסוויטות מרווחות לזוגות וגם למשפחות המבקשות ליהנות מאירוח יוצא דופן. שמו של המלון נטוע בהיסטוריה המשפחתית של, בעלי המלון, מר ראובן סרוגו. סופיה, אימו של ראובן, יצא למסע ארוך מהעיר דמשק שבסוריה, לארגנטינה כדי לפגוש את בעלה לעתיד אותו לא הכירה. ובדרך, עצרה בארץ ישראל על שפת אגם טבריה. בכדי להנציח את זכרה – נקרא המלון על שמה.

The origin of the name Sofia
Adjoining the historic building, a new wing has been erected that includes 120 luxurious rooms with elegant wood paneling. These include spacious rooms and suites for couples and families that wish to enjoy exceptional hospitality.
The name of the hotel is rooted in the family history of the hotel owner, the late Mr. Reuven Srugo.
Sofia, Reuven’s mother, set out on a long journey from the Syrian city of Damascus to Argentina, where she was to meet her future husband for the first time.
On the way, she made a stop in “Eretz Israel” (the Land of Israel) on the shores of Lake Tiberias.
In her memory, the hotel was named Sofia.

The Sofia Sea of Galilee Hotel in Tiberias offers four accessible rooms specially adapted for disabled guests.
These rooms comply with all latest accessibility standards. They are located on floors 1-6, with a (full or partial) view of the Sea of Galilee and include various accessible amenities:
The rooms are equipped with accessible bathrooms, including handholds in the shower and toilet.
The bathroom doors have a generous opening of 90 cm.
The shower is wheelchair accessible.
The corridors leading to the rooms on floors 1-6 are covered with wheelchair-friendly rugs.
These rooms do not include a connecting door.
Ancillary equipment such as high seats for the toilet and wheelchairs can be provided on demand.
